Where it all started
About 10 years ago this year 'Rupert and Rupert' were heading home the morning after a friend’s wedding and decided on a spur the Cambridge Folk Festival would make a good detour. Having managed to get last minute day tickets their attention turned to what they might wear into the festival. The only outfits they had with them were the Tux's from the wedding the day before and the shorts they had driven back in, so they decided to go for that. Ever since then 'Rupert and Rupert' have made it a tradition to wear their Tux's and shorts to the festival and over the years more and more people have been getting involved in the #TuxedoFriday fun! Last year they agreed that for their 10th anniversary it would be a suitable occasion to formally spread the word to the entire Festival.
Get involved
'Rupert and Rupert' are encouraging everyone at the festival to join in the #TuxedoFriday fun this year! The rules are simple... wear a formal Tux on the top half of your body and whatever you would like on the bottom half (as long as it's appropriate!). Tux's of all shapes and colours are welcome. You could go for a wacky look or keep it classic. Who knows... you might end up in the papers like 'Rupert and Rupert' did (see below!). If you join in the fun make sure you post your photos and #TuxedoFriday so we can see your looks!
#FormalFriday
If a tux really isn't your thing but you'd still like to be involved then you still can! Instead of a Tux why not opt for some other formal wear? Cocktail dresses, suits, Ballroom gowns, tiaras and tailcoats all welcome! If you join in make sure you take a photo and #formalfriday!
