Hailing from the deserts of Phoenix, Arizona, and having spent part of his childhood in the deep South, David Burnett has emerged as a captivating new voice in modern folk. Having relocated to Spain some 13 years ago, Burnett draws on his experience as an American living far from his homeland to write songs that resonate strongly with themes of longing and not belonging.
Praised for his poignant songwriting and intricate fingerpicked guitar, Burnett follows in the footsteps of such luminaries as James Taylor, Townes Van Zandt and Gram Parsons. His music effortlessly weaves together the rich tapestry of American roots genres, blending elements of country, blues, traditional fiddle music, and jazz. The result is a sound that is both timeless and distinct.
In 2018, Burnett released a five-song EP, "Before the War." The EP introduced his trademark brand of intimate, haunting lyrics and melodies, and paved the way for his full-length debut, "Picture Palace," which arrived in 2022. This album, a true testament to Burnett's immense talent, was enthusiastically received by Spanish media.
However, it is on the stage where David Burnett shines brightest. Accompanied by violist Isabel Juárez, his live performances are nothing short of captivating. Burnett's soulful voice and expert guitar work intertwine with Juárez's resonant, warm viola to create dynamic soundscapes that leave audiences mesmerized.
Currently, Burnett is on a relentless quest to gain wider recognition and introduce his music to folk fans all across the world. He is also busy crafting material for what will be his next album. Burnett’s dedication to his craft, coupled with his undeniable passion for roots music, ensure him a promising future in the modern folk scene.
