The Exclusive Brethren were a closed community: an ultra-conservative subset of the Christian Evangelical Church, who believed the world was ruled by Satan. Gathering threads of her dying father’s memories, as well as her own, she tells the story of her family’s experience within this sect and the decades-long aftermath of their breaking away from the sect.
