Who are you and what do you do at Big Weekend?
My name is Michael and I organise the 'Getting into Gaming' in the Gaming Hub at the Big Weekend! I have been part of the Big Weekend for 5 years and have been getting the public into the basics of games design and give an insight into what happens when working in the games industry.

What is your occupation outside of Big Weekend?
I’m a Media and Video Games Lecturer at Cambridge Regional College. I run a Level 2 Media course and allow the students to develop their media skills and get them to start their careers within their chosen media industry.

How has that changed due to Covid-19?
I am now working from home and delivering my course online. At the same time, the students are completing their final projects and are planning to release them to Spotify, Apple, Android, Amazon Music, YouTube, etc. So the lockdown will not stop us!

How has your life changed due to the current situation? For good and for bad?
I’ve missed being surrounded by my team and working with the students. Its knowing the small things that you miss the most during this. But the upside means I can sometimes respond to emails in the sun and have a team meeting in the garden!

What do you look forward to the most after this?
Being back at work and being able to connect with those that I haven’t seen since the lockdown began. Hoping to get things back to how they used to be and for those who are working on the frontline to be back home with their families safely after their efforts during this.

What is your favourite moment or memory from Big Weekend?
My favourite moment was when we first became a part of the Big Weekend in 2015. I was able to see our student volunteers help the public with the activities we had to offer and our music students performing in the music tent next to ours. It was bringing our students and departments together for the weekend to show off what they can do!

How much are you looking forward to Big Weekend 2021?
2021 will be a big one! As this years has been missed, there will be some new and exciting things being brought to the event! Lets just say, it won’t just be games this time, we will be joined by others too!
