The Chinese New Year, a time-honored celebration marking the commencement of a new year in the traditional Chinese Calendar, is enthusiastically observed as the Spring Festival or Lunar New Year. Continuing this rich tradition, the Chinese Students and Scholars Association in Cambridge (CAM-CSSA) is set to host the Cambridge Chinese New Year Gala at the Corn Exchange. This event stands as a vibrant testament to the most significant festival in Chinese culture, bringing together students, scholars, local residents of Cambridge, and guests from various regions across the UK. The Gala is renowned for its splendid Chinese traditional decorations and a series of spectacular performances complemented by stunning stage and sound effects.
Welcoming the year 2024, we celebrate the Year of the Dragon, an emblem of power, strength, and good fortune in Chinese culture. The dragon is revered for its boldness and vitality, qualities that will be reflected in the Gala's dynamic lineup. This year's event promises an array of grand performances, including traditional Chinese dragon dances, martial arts displays, enchanting music, and theatrical performances. These artistic expressions will be brought to life by the talented Chinese students and scholars from the University of Cambridge, alongside appearances by renowned Chinese artists and celebrities who will grace the stage with their extraordinary talents. The Gala is an inclusive celebration, extending a warm invitation to everyone, regardless of nationality, to immerse themselves in this unique and joyous cultural experience.
